ZeroBot is a 3D printable FPV robot based on Raspberry Pi Zero

ZeroBot is a cool little 3d printable robot that is cheap and easy to make. Great for educational robotic projects. You can control it via the smartphone interface and all the software is available as SD card image. I'm making this!!!




Project description:
ZeroBot is a Raspberry Pi Zero W based robot. It can be controlled using any computer or smartphone via a web browser. The integrated camera module makes for a low latency video stream. In addition, the Raspberry Pi acts as a Wifi access point, so no router is required. The parts for the hull as well as the wheels can easily be printed on any regular 3D printer. 
Some of the key features are:
  • Compact CAD design with 3D printed components
  • Analog control via a joystick (and multitouch)
  • Simple battery solution using only a standard power bank
  • Low latency streaming (~0.3s)
  • Easy and cheap to build using widely available components

THERO project

THERO is a privacy project developed by Román Torre and Ángeles Angulo, that uses a Raspberry Pi with TOR routing. By moving the front panel you change your connection to the external Internet and your privacy.
It uses 3d printing to make the full enclosure and mold for the concrete encased version.

3D Printed Car Navigation based on Raspberry Pi

Greg Holloway made a car navigation system based on Raspberry Pi and 7 inch screen that is held by 3d printed dashboard structure. It was printed on E3D BigBox machine with the help of SpoolWorks scaffold soluble support material.
The car is Suzuki Jimny. Software used is open source Navit.

3D Printable Astrophotography with RasPi Zero

If you are interested in astrophotography and you want to make a low cost DIY setup here is a great project. Greg Holloway developed a Raspberry Pi Zero based wireless camera for a 1.25" telescope eyepiece receptacle with 3d printed casing. It is battery powered so you can take it in the wilderness to observe the stars.

3D Printable Smart Glasses based on Raspberry Pi Zero

Ricard Ferro developed the DIY smart glasses based on Raspberry Pi Zero. They have a 3d printed frame that holds everything together.  Interesting project with many possible applications, hopefully it will be developed further and get a community of contributors.

The MADspace Advanced Robotics System (M.A.R.S.) rover is a 3D printable space exploration rover. It can be used in education, DIY science and development.

Easy WiFi 3D Printer sharing with Microsoft IoT Core

I'm not a Microsoft fan but it looks like their IoT Core on a Raspberry Pi can get easy WiFi connectivity and network sharing for many popular 3D printers with simple app install.

Funbot Pro all-in-one DIY 3d printer

Cliff Mellangård, Swedish 3d printing guru and creator of excellent low cost Funbot 3d printer is developing an all-in-one DIY RepRap based on Raspberry Pi 2. It has a 7 inch LCD screen and when you connect external keyboard and mouse you have a full 3d printing workstation in one machine.

How to remotly control ATX power supply modes with Raspberry Pi and OctoPrint

Standard ATX power supply unites are widely used to give electricity to 3d printers. Instructables user "mfoster" published a very useful tutorial on how to use RasPi and Octoprint to remotely control ATX power supply and enable you to put it in different power modes like standby mode.
The hack is easy to perform even by novice users, you need do use some code and conect some wires from Raspberry Pi GPIOs to ATX wiring.

Raspberry Pi 2 is out! It is much more powerful for the same price of a previous model (35 USD). The tests show that it's up to six times faster as the old version. There will be some nice and fast 3d printing projects running on this one!

DIY 3d printed water cooler block for small electronics

Instructables user Unprecedented developed a useful little 3d printable cooling block for his Raspberry Pi. It holds a copper penny on the bottom as contact to hot chip and it has plastic tubing taking in cool and taking out hot water and thus cooling the chip.

It can be used on variety of electronic parts with Raspberry Pi and other small computers being the obvious choice if you are into overclocking. Water cooling is silent and can take away large amount of excess heat. It goes without saying, if the water leaks out it will badly damage your electronics.
You could also use 3d printed peristaltic pump to push the water or just have it stream from faucet ...

It would be interesting to see how much could the design be enlarged ...

FreeLSS open source DIY 3d scanner with 3d printed parts and Raspberry Pi

FreeLSS is a simple DIY 3d scanner that looks easy to make if you know some basic stuff like 3d printing and Raspberry Pi operating. It has most of a parts 3d printable and electronics is based on Pi and Pi camera. It is open source and all the files are available! Kudos to the team!

FreeLSS is a free as in open source, open hardware, and open electronic design 3D printable turn table laser scanning platform based on the Raspberry Pi. It is written in C++ and licensed under the GPL.

RamanPi DIY 3d printable Raman Spectrometer


RamanPi is open source project of Raman Spectrometer that can be made with many 3d printable parts. It is a low cost way to get a spectroscope for your laboratory or school and learn / teach about fundamental physics, chemistry and material sciences. It is powered by Raspberry Pi and most non-printable parts can be sourced off-the-shelf. The entire system is housed in standard PC ITX case.

Goals of the RamanPi project:

Ultrascope is a 3d printed telescope which uses Nokia Lumia 1020 smartphone with high resolution camera to get pictures and light curves from space objects. Project is developed by James Parr from Open Space Agency.

PiKon, the 3d printed telescope attachment for Raspberry Pi camera

Printonian, the 3D printed DIY Dobsonian telescope































From Printonian project description:
This thing is a 3D printed Dobsonian telescope designed for an 8" primary mirror with a focal length of 48". The optical tube assembly consists of aluminum extrusions attached with 3D printed ribs designed for standard hardware and covered with cardboard tubing. The optical tube was mounted onto a base that was made from 3/4" baltic birch plywood cut on a CNC router. The bottom base plates are separated with plastic bearings to allow for control.

DIY RasPI powered gameboy with 3d printed enclosure





Here is another great project by Adafruit. You can build you own portable Gameboy clone and load it up with one of many custom ROM packages. I wish I had the time to build this, but it will go to the bucket list.
