Everything is 3d printed except metal nuts and bolts
He printed it on his Da Vinci 1.0 3d printer in some 40 hours.

XYZPrinting also presented some sort of food growing cube with salad growing inside it. Looks like some sort of hydroponics or growth medium desktop / indoor plant growing setup. There are no independent test or reviews of any of those machines yet.
Seems that the 499$ da Vinci 1.0 was a success. XYZprinting announced two new models with inspiring names: 2.0 and 2.1 ...
da Vinci 2.0 model features dual extrusion heads that allow the user to print multi-colored objects with ease. The build volume is a little smaller at 150 x 200 x 200 mm (5.9 x 7.8 x 7.8 inch). Each printer houses a 0.4mm nozzle. XYZprinting says the printer can achieve a resolution of up to 100 microns per layer, same as the da Vinci 1.0.
da Vinci 2.1 has all the features da Vinci 2.0 has, with extra cloud database access, Wi-Fi connectivity, 5-inch color touch panel, multi language display and remote control via mobile app. The da Vinci 2.1 retails for $999, with cartridge spools of filament costing $28.
On personal note: I think that proprietary filament cartridges are bad business model ...
New day, new low cost printer from Asia. The bad thing about many new devices as this one, in my opinion, is that it uses some sort of custom cartridges (update: the cartridges can be hacked now and counter reset: look below) and custom software. But on other hand, some people like that.

da Vinci proprietary filament can be reset and cheaper common standard filament used with cartridges and make the daily operation much cheaper. Here are tutorials, guides and software used for the procedure.
Da Vinci announced that hey will start to sell cheaper user replaceable ABS refill filament for their custom cartridges. It will be their filament and they will deliver it with a chip enabling the printer to recognize new spool. The refill will be sold in 25 - 27 USD range for 600g. The company also announced that they will start to sell PLA filament also.
