Building a DIY CNC Milling Machine
The purpose of this project is to design and build a CNC milling machine without turning any parts. Typically, building a milling machine requires a much larger milling machine to ensure smooth, parallel axis surfaces.
Using aluminum tool plates (which are theoretically machined smoothly) and securing key parts with bolts instead of welding should reduce the workload on the machine, as the milling machine is being built without them!
The linear rails and ball screws are cheap Chinese 20mm units available on eBay and elsewhere.
