Currently, I'm using my brother's CNC router (which he built to make guitars) to machine the Z-axis motor mount and build my own 70V DC power supply for the stepper motors...
Transformer: 750VA 230V AC toroidal transformer - 24 x 24 AC outputs - wired in series - AirlinkTransformers.com
Vishay GBPC3504-E4/51 bridge rectifier
3 x 100V 35mm 4700μF DC capacitors
2 x 1K2 5W resistors wired in series to discharge the capacitors when the mains power is cut
Still to be done: 48V output fuse from the transformer and each output to the stepper driver

Building a DIY CNC Mill
The purpose of this project is to design and build a CNC mill without machining any parts. Typically, milling requires a much larger mill to ensure smooth and parallel spindle surfaces.
Using aluminum tool plates (Which in theory would be machined smooth) and fastening key parts with bolts instead of welding should avoid machining. Ultimately, a mill is being built because there isn't one!
The linear rails and ball screws are cheap Chinese 20mm rails, which you can find on eBay, for example.
