Building a DIY CNC mill
The purpose of this project is to design and build a CNC mill without turning any parts. Typically, milling requires a much larger mill to ensure smooth and parallel spindle surfaces.
Using aluminum tool plates (which are theoretically smooth to machine) and fastening key parts with bolts instead of welding should reduce the workload on the machine. Ultimately, the mill is being built because there isn't one!
The linear rails and ball screws are cheap Chinese 20mm rails available on eBay, etc.
