Building a DIY CNC Milling Machine
The purpose of this project is to design and build a CNC milling machine without turning any parts. Typically, milling machines require much larger mills to ensure smooth, parallel axis surfaces.
Using aluminum tool plates (which are theoretically smooth to machine) and fastening key parts with bolts instead of welding should reduce the workload on the machine, as the mill is being built without one!
The linear rails and ball screws are cheap Chinese 20mm rails available on eBay and elsewhere.
